After completion of almost two years of fixed wing commuter air carrier operations on the West Coast, it is timely to review the conception and evolution of commuter operational concepts. Problems encountered are reported and indicated potential has been extrapolated. The market demand for the new type of service has required problem solving at 10 times the rate recorded in the early years of the longer haul trunk carriers.
