Vehicle interior noise is generated not only by excitation from road asperity but by tire tread pattern irregularity, and is considered to be transmitted through two noise paths, structure-borne and air-borne. Therefore, in the development of vehicles and tires, it is important to know the transmission mechanism through each path and to control noise in the frequency domain. This paper describes a method to predict vehicle interior noise using measured vehicle transmissibility and given tire characteristics.
