When a vehicle runs on a slushy road, phenomena such as the adhesion of slush onto the suspension parts and the subsequent suppression of smooth operation may occur in some cases. In the past, reproduction of such phenomena had to depend on vehicle road tests in winter, which limited the evaluation test timing for vehicles currently under development, making test scheduling quite difficult.Under this study, the author et al. have succeeded in solving this problem by scattering slush with any given ratio of water content at low temperatures. Owing to the above, it has become possible to reproduce actual ice build-up condition on a test bench, and to conduct the evaluation tests year-round for vehicles developed anew. Moreover, the technology obtained under this study is applicable not only to the ice build-up tests on newly developed vehicles but also to extends to areas such as weather resistance tests on ships, trains, buildings, etc., ice cream/candy production, food cooling/freezing, snow artwork production and fire extinguishers.
