This paper traces two years of operational experience of ten heavy duty transit buses utilizing compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel. Specific topics covered are descriptions of the bus fuel system, CNG engines, fueling station and maintenance facilities as well as the major developments in each area.Operational data and collection techniques are described as well as analyzed. The primary accomplishments to reduce and eliminate operational difficulties in relation to a heavy duty transit bus are discussed.
