This SAE Recommended Practice is applicable to all liquid-to-gas, liquid-to-liquid, gas-to-gas, and gas-to-liquid heat exchangers used in vehicle and industrial cooling systems. This document outlines the tests to determine durability characteristics of the heat exchanger under pressure cycling. This document has undergone a 5-year review, new sections and examples have been added to clarify the requirements of pressure pulse testing for the automotive industry and for industrial heat exchangers.
