Continuous monitoring of the atmosphere aboard American submarines is performed using an atmosphere analyzer based on mass spectrometry. The second generation analyzer is installed on US Navy Trident and Seawolf class submarines. A brief description of this analyzer is provided along with examples of the type of data that can be obtained using it. The data is archived on 3.5 inch floppy disks for future off-line analysis.
