This Aerospace Information Report (AIR) is being prepared by the E-32 Committee in recognition of the need to provide the most up-to-date information on temperature measurement for production gas turbine engines. We provide information on various functions for which sensors are used as well as to identify the most widely used sensor types. Considerations are made for the entire measurement system and not just the sensor itself. Selection criteria are discussed and the problem of identifying and quantifying error sources is discussed for the purpose of achieving accurate measurements. The AIR concludes with a discussion of special problems encountered in temperature measurement.
