An essential precondition for an effective and reliable control system is the correct parameterization of the controller. In the present paper the way different cutting conditions influence the cutting force, which is used as an indicator of the milling process, is discussed. By use of different radiant depths of cut it is shown in which way the force-feed-correlation factor of the system changes. To determine the system behavior at different process situations a number of milling tests is carried out machining Ti6AlV4 and AlZnMgCu1.5, two typical aerospace alloys. In order to measure the change of the cutting forces, a three component dynamometer is used. The paper closes discussing future prospects and further steps of development.
