The Ideal Quality System is a systems approach to plant-wide quality control in the stamping environment. Present stamping technology has improved to the extent that much more can be known about the forming process than ever before. While each stamping plant is distinct due to its layout, workforce, and history, there are many factors that could be used in any system to improve quality and thruput. The Ideal Quality System is the organization that encourages these common factors to work in harmony. The details and operation of the system are defined in this paper. While no plant presently uses the entire plan for Quality, it can be used as a beginning point for those working in the stamping environment.
