The development and test results of several unique fiber wound diesel particulate filter cartridges are discussed. Included in the discussion are material properties of the continuous, textile grade, high temperature fibers and the preparation of these fibers into a suitable construction to be used for diesel exhaust filtration.Design considerations for the various particulate filter cartridges will be explained with corresponding performance results.Compatibility with various regeneration methods will be addressed. Test data with electrical and fuel burner regeneration will be highlighted.A description of system concepts utilizing these diesel particulate filter cartridges will be outlined. The status of limited field experience with various filter designs in a variety of applications will be shown.
