A billinear composite model is proposed based on experimental observation of the stress strain characteristics of a typical cord-rubber composite, in this case nylon 6-6 cord reinforcing an NR compound. The bilinearity is shown to occur at a non-zero strain level. A strain energy description of such a laminar is proposed, and its application to laminates is discussed. Laminate stress-strain relations are derived.
