The increased use of automobiles in many cities has resulted in serious air pollution problems. This is caused mainly by the engine exhaust gas emissions which is the most harmful for species exposed to photochemical reactions. The three main exhaust gas pollutants derived from exhaust emissions are unburnt hydrocarbons, CO, CO2and NOx, etc. Many researchers worked on the engine, but these modifications alone are insufficient to control the exhaust gas emission; therefore, the catalytic systems are derived from controlling the emissions. But the biggest limitation of regular catalytic convertor is the use of precious metals like platinum, titanium, palladium etc. In this article an algae based catalytic convertor is fabricated and experimentally tested. The analysis and experiments show that algae-based catalytic convertor is the best alternative to the regular catalytic convertor. The CO2 emission was reduced from 0.9 vol % to 0.2 vol %, and the CO emission was reduced from 14.22 vol % to 0.68 vol %.
