An investigation of new design concepts and material technologies which are generating far-reaching changes in the educational requirements of the professional manufacturing man. The increasing complexity of the manufacturing environment has stimulated an examination of the anticipated level of competence required in the diverse capabilities of the Planning Engineer, Tool Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Production Engineer: all effort encompassed in the term, “Manufacturing Engineering”. A critical appraisal is made of the “in-house” training programs of the Aerospace Industry, and the curricula of formal educational institutions that must be used to prepare qualified professional manufacturing men.
