This paper presents an overview of concepts under development for the sensing of pressure, temperature, crankshaft position, throttle position, airflow, and exhaust gas, along with transfer characteristics for such sensors. The need for accurate automotive sensors is discussed from a control-systems viewpoint. A computer-controlled design verification test arrangement is also described.
