The scope of this document is to provide review of recent history of loss-of-control accidents during airline revenue operations. Loss-of-control remains a major type of mishap to transport airplanes. These have included several high-profile accidents world-wide which emphasize the need to prevent and recover from loss-of-control incidents. This report reviews loss-of-control events to revenue air carrier flights occurring from 1981 through 2010. This SAE Aerospace Information Report is intended to provide a comprehensive reference and background information pertaining to in-flight loss of control mishaps. It is expected that this report will lead to ARP6149.
