This SAE Recommended Practice applies to fifth wheel kingpins for heavy-duty commercial trailers and semitrailers, used for off highway operation or in hauling heavy loads (see Figure 1.) The Truck and Bus Coupling & Interchangeability Committee which owned this report has been inactivated and the technical expertise for the subject report within the Truck-Bus Council is not available at this time. This standard has been transferred to the Total Vehicle Steering Committee to stabilize the standard.
