Advances in automotive brake technology have brought about various types of anti-lock systems for passenger cars and light trucks for improved vehicle control. The passenger car anti-lock systems have been primarily 4-wheel systems while light truck systems have typically been rear wheel only systems with less improvement in vehicle control.A 4-wheel anti-lock brake system for light truck vehicles, including 4 wheel drive vehicles, has been designed and developed to increase the level of control for these vehicles. The unique technical features for the 4 wheel drive application that resulted from this development are described in this paper.
