A heat transfer wind tunnel has been developed having flow capacities suitable for testing full-size radiators and oil-to-air coolers used in earthmoving applications. Energy balances within 3% are being consistently demonstrated through the use of computerized data acquisition with quartz thermometers, shielded air thermocouples, capacitative pressure transducers, turbine flowmeters, and pitot-array airflow primaries. The computer system also facilitates data reduction and plotting.
