This document applies to a plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) which is equipped with an onboard inverter and communicates using IEEE 2030.5-2018. It is a supplement to the SEP2 standard, which supports the use cases defined by SAE J2836/3. It provides guidance for the use of the SEP2 distributed energy resource function set with a PEV. It also provides guidance for the use of the SEP2 flow reservation function set, when used for discharging. It is not intended to be a comprehensive guide to the use of SEP2 in a PEV. Note that in this document, SEP2 is used interchangeably with IEEE 2030.5-2018. The purpose of this revision is to update support from IEEE 2030.5-2013 to IEEE 2030.5-2018. IEEE 2030.5-2018 was updated to provide communications support for IEEE 1547-2018. IEEE 2030.5-2018 added new resouces and changed the names of existing resources to support IEEE 1547-2018. This revision incorporates these changes. IEEE 2030.5-2018 added support for specifying the polling rate and posting rate of certain resources. The prior revision used an out-of-band mechanism to specify these rates. This revision takes advantage of the new in-band mechanism. IEEE 2030.5-2018 updated the definition of the voltage ride-through curves to align with IEEE 1547-2018. The prior revision warned against using these curves as they were not mature enough to warrant implementation. This revision removes this warning. This revision will also serve as a general Five-Year Review to address other issues since the original release.
