ABSTRACTIn keeping with recent trends in vehicle body design, there is an increasing requirement for signaling lamps to have a more slanted and bent shape. There are also growing expectations that light emitting diodes (LEDs) will replace incandescent bulbs in signaling lamps. LEDs, however, will bring a cost problem if they are to be mounted on conventional hard printed circuit bases. We have overcome this problem by developing pressureweldable LEDs which can be attached to free formed surfaces without soldering. As a result it has become possible to design LED signaling lamps with a superb beam utilization.
