A computer simulation model is used to study the impact of several alternative equipment combinations on the profitability of a hypothetical line haul freight carrier. The model makes it possible for the analyst to consider the combined effect of factors such as speed, weight, and capacity on the profitability of his operations. Questions relating to trailer and engine selection are analyzed.
