This specification, in conjunction with the general requirements for peening media covered in AMS2431, establishes the requirements for the procurement of conditioned carbon steel cut wire shot with a hardness of 55 to 62 HRC. AMS2431/8C results from a Five-Year Review and update of this specification with changes to composition (3.2), media condition (3.4), weight (3.5), shape requirements (Table 2), size (3.8), size requirements (Table 5), size (3.9.1), shape (3.9.2), size (4.1.3 and 4.1.3.2), and shape (4.1.4).
