This paper is a general review of the successful conversion of steel hood floors to aluminum. The function of different load floor components is discussed. Design analysis for bending strength, bending stiffness and dent resistance is evaluated. Test results of aluminum and steel parts are compared. And manufacturing considerations and different joining methods are discussed.
