This paper covers improved and automatic methods for experimental testing in an engineering department. Transducers, central acquisition, and a digital computer are the main components in the system. Test stands are set up, data acquired, monitored, calculated, and analyzed with a minimum of engineering time required. Special features and flexibility of the data collection system and computer programs are discussed. Advantages to the engineering department and plans for future expansion form the concluding portion of the paper.
