The microcircuit industry is making significant advances in the area of high reliability. These advances are a result of development and testing related to the extreme reliability requirements of NASA space applications. Reliability testing programs have been expanded by many vendors. They are now proving that microcircuits can be tested and selected for severe temperature and vibration environments. This paper will discuss the general jet engine environmental requirements and the applicable microcircuit tests and data.
