For the past 7 years, Shell Australia has held a competition to stimulate the design of fuel efficient vehicles. In each of these years a team of engineers who work at Ford Australia's Product Engineering Office at Geelong have entered a vehicle.This paper outlines the teams rationale in the design and development of a series of mileage marathon vehicles which achieved a number of world records.
