This SAE Aerospace Standard standardizes practices to: a maximize availability of authentic parts, b procure parts from reliable sources, c assure authenticity and conformance of procured parts, d control parts identified as counterfeit, e and report counterfeit parts to other potential users and Government investigative authorities. This standard was created in response to a significant and increasing volume of counterfeit electronic parts entering the aerospace supply chain, posing significant performance, reliability, and safety risks. This standard was created to provide uniform requirements, practices and methods to mitigate the risks of receiving and installing counterfeit electronic parts.
