This paper describes a new commercial process using hot forged powder metal for making rolling bearing rings. Parts made by this process have engineering properties equal or superior to wrought steel parts. Test results are given for hot forged powder metal tapered roller bearing cups which verify the physical characteristics and performance of rolling bearing rings produced by this process.
