This paper discusses an engineering technique for evaluating the performance of fluidborne noise attenuators based on parameters of pressure drop as a function of flow rate and pressure ripple attenuation as a function of frequency. The selection of pressure ripple measurement points, the number of measurement points, and the interpretation of the test results are related to acoustical plane wave theory. Specific recommendations are made for a reference level and reference center frequencies for reporting transmission loss in dB.This paper discusses an engineering technique for evaluating the performance of fluidborne noise attenuators based on parameters of pressure drop as a function of flow rate and pressure ripple attenuation as a function of frequency.
