Since Reliability Predictions have become a basis for many decisions in selecting system configurations and investing large sums of money it's essential that there be a full recognition of the potential Pitfalls that exist in this activity. The recognition and effort to eliminate these Pitfalls must be initiated during the Program Definition Phase and continue unobated through every phase of the program. Each phase of development of a new system is discussed and the pitfalls associated with each task during each of the major phases is considered.
