Procedures included within this specification are intended to cover performance testing at all phases of development, production, and field analysis of electrical terminals, connectors, and components that constitute the electrical connection systems in low voltage (0 - 20 VDC) road vehicle applications. These procedures are only applicable to terminals used for In-Line, Header, and Device Connector systems with and without Shorting Bars. They are not applicable to Edge Board connector systems, > 20 VAC or DC, or to eyelet type terminals. This Document has been changed to list the tests and general performance requirements required for connections used for on-board road vehicle electrical wiring harnesses used by the major OEM's in the United States. The Document being replaced was technically equivalent to ISO 8093/2 and used for reference only. The replaced document has never been used by any major OEM in the United States for the tests and general performance requirements for connections used for on-board road vehicle electrical wiring harnesses and there is no intention by these OEM's to move towards adopting this document in the future. Therefore SAE J2223-2 has been rewritten to list the tests and general performance requirements that have been agreed to and are currently in use by these major OEM's in the United States
