The present study shows an effect of low pressure wear on brake rotor disc thickness variation (DTV) for two design level calipers on a single design level brake rotor. All tested components are from a single vehicle platform and all friction pads used Non-Asbestos Organic (NAO) materials. Seventeen separate brakes-off DTV tests were performed on a brakes-off DTV dynamometer under laboratory conditions. The results indicated that the two design levels develop wear at different rates. DTV measurements during the test support this observation.
