MECAR (Metropolitan Engineers Council on Air Resources), organized in 1965 to represent the engineering profession through its various societies in the New York metropolitan area, has four objectives: The group attempts to maintain consistency of direction of policy in matters pertaining to air quality in metropolitan areas.
