Libbey-Owens-Ford has been involved in the study and production of safer windshields for several years. These developments have continued to be provided to the industry. Work on anti-lacerative windshields was begun in the late'60's and early'70's. Over the ensuing years, various windshield configurations were evaluated. A number of polymeric materials were studied to determine if their combination with safer windshields would result in improved anti-lacerative properties. This paper provides an overview of the studies that have been conducted.
