This paper deals with how mechanic training, when integrated with fleet maintenance, can be a means to cost reduction. Instances were cited whereby training courses were used to eliminate continuous maintenance problems. In one city failures were reduced from an average of 42 per month, to an average of 4. An outline for developing a training program is given.
