The basic aerodynamic conception of Concord is outlined. Local variations to the shape derived from systematic wind tunnel investigations led to significant gains in subsonic and supersonic performance. General stability and low speed handling qualities are made “normal” with simple artificial aids.Tests to examine temperature effects on the creep and fatigue properties of the material are reported, together with checks made on structural components. These are being supported by an intensive program on major specimens.
