A comparison of high and low pressure-ratio nonregenerative and low pressure-ratio regenerative gas turbine engines of the early 1970 vintage has been made for a utility helicopter and a medium fixed wing transport application. Elementary cost and productivity comparisons have been made to reflect the potential of regenerative engines in terms of the overall systems, including cost, maintenance, and fuel savings.
