The two members of the valve mechanism of an internal combustion engine are reciprocated by conn rods on a half-time shaft providing fast opening and closing of passageways and a supercharging effect. The valve mechanism is located outside of the combustion chamber making the chamber free of intruding members. The compact chamber will reduce heat loss and improve efficiency. Smaller overall engine dimensions are possible.
