The paper describes an electronic fuel injection system with improved performance. This is achieved by basic system considerations as well as by sophisticated electronics design making use of custom designed bipolar integrated circuits. By using an oxygen sensor, it is possible to detect the stoichiometric mixture and to use a closed loop control to meet the proposed United States Federal Emission Standards of 1978. The basic electronic design, the closed loop control, and the oxygen sensor are described.
