This document covers the recommended practice for determining the acceptability of the dendrite arm spacing (DAS) of D357-T6 aluminum alloy castings required to have tensile strength not lower than 50000 psi (345 MPa). ARP1947C completely revises Metallographic DAS Test Procedure (4.4) to provide more metallographic technique flexibility, and results from a Five-Year Review and update of this recommended practice.
