In previous work a simulation method of vehicle noise has been reported using an FEU model comprising the coupling between the vehicle structure and the acoustic cavity as modal models. But in this method, suitable damping values could not be set for each part of the vehicle body. Therefore, the authors developed a new simulation method for vehicle noise and vibration using the component mode synthesis method which, includes different damping in each part of the body structure, By using this method, the FEM body model, with a large degree of freedom, has been calculated without difficulty and different damping values in each part can be included. Then, the most effective position and quantity of damping material can be analyzed.
