This paper discusses a family of unique, lightweight, portable thermoelectric generators with a power output ranging from 5–100 w. The design is based on new concepts, and an unusual feature is the high power-to-weight ratio made possible by liquid cooled heat exchanger and the use of new techniques for assembling the thermoelectric module. The generators can be used with a variety of heat sources, such as a small gasoline burner or a solid fuel burner. These characteristics of adaptability to the fuel available and exceptional portability make this type of generator useful in a large variety of situations.
