Liquid crystal displays combine a multitude of desirable display characteristics for the automobile dashboard. Rapidly advancing technology in displays, packaging and electronics is making LCD ever more attractive to the instrumentation designer. This paper describes areas of LCD development relevant to automotive application at Philips.
