The author discusses qualitative and quantitative requirements for precise electrical power needs of naval aircraft. Precise power characteristics such as steady-state and transient conditions of frequency and voltage are evaluated. Technical data pertaining to power requirements for starting and servicing aircraft, as well as features of available self-propelled and ground power units are summarized. Future plans for power equipment require improved instrumentation for the measurement of power under more realistic conditions.
