Studies have shown that warranty expense per car, may be represented by a linear relationship throughout the warranty life of a Rambler car. Mileage accumulation rates of the average owner, when applied to the expense data, allows accurate lifetime warranty expense predictions to be developed. The time required to obtain representative samples of the car population determines when the first forecast can be made. The procedure discussed, covers one method of developing total warranty expense predictions.
