Much experience has been gained in production utilization of galvanized steels. Sane of the problems attendant to its use have been confronted and are being addressed here. This paper discusses the effect of galvanizing on formability and presents sane statistics on the distribution of galvanized yield strengths compared to cold rolled steel yield strength. The issue of coating adhesion is addressed and some tests discussed. The issues of spangle size and character are explored, and a production case study, involving pimple formation, is examined.
