Psychology plays a large role in airline safety, one that has been relatively neglected to date. The author cites examples to support several conclusions: that personal and psychological variables are primary factors in safety; that management and organizational policies can deeply affect these personal and psychological variables: and the airlines must start taking these factors into consideration in their organizational and operating setup.
