Camshaft drive systems used in modern engines face increased demands in performance, particularly regarding durability and NVH (noise, vibration and harshness). Increasingly demanding NVH targets add to the durability challenge. Examples include the use of small pitch, narrow inverted tooth timing chain (also known as silent chain) and balance shaft drives that run at two times engine speed. The warm compaction process produces sprockets with improved properties with no added manufacturing steps.
