This paper describes the influence of the wide range of temperatures on passive and active devices in the ignition system and the resulting timing variations. Electrical parameters are emphasized, and the cumulative effect on component tolerances due to different temperature phenomena is presented. The author concludes it is possible to calculate electrical performance as a function of temperature and thus design the system according to these requirements.
