This paper describes recent developments in International Aerospace Battery Standardization and how these changes will impact upon the US aerospace industry. Integral to this is to understand the function, responsibility and authority of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) organization. This paper explains the procedures that exist today, the IEC history, function, membership and how the output from the JWG 4 activity will change today's standards for aircraft batteries.
